30-DAY STORYLEARNING® CHALLENGE

Perfect Passato Prossimo

Take our grammar-slaying, fluency-boosting March challenge and master the pesky passato prossimo once and for all!

Start Date: 1 March

If you struggle with the passato prossimo tense in Italian, then I’ve got news for you…

You’re not alone!

In fact, Italian learners from Pisa to Palermo have a hard time learning to use the passato prossimo the right way in Italian:

  • Memorising verb conjugations
  • Remembering the irregular forms of difficult verbs
  • And choosing between essere or avere when using the passato prossimo

And doing all of that while face-to-face with a native Italian speaker!

It’s enough to make you want to throw in the towel!

Well, not so fast...

Help is at hand!

I’ve created a unique 30-day challenge, Perfect Passato Prossimo, that will help you learn and internalise the Italian passato prossimo tense, so you can speak clearly and accurately about events in the past...

And enjoy speaking Italian again!

Introducing the March Challenge:

"Perfect Passato Prossimo"

With...

Here’s how the challenge works.

The challenge is based on an exciting original story in Italian that develops over the 30 days of the challenge.

This is a brand new story, written exclusively for this 30-Day Challenge.

We’ve created the story to be jam-packed with hundreds of examples of the passato prossimo tense.

Every day, you’ll receive one new chapter of the story, along with a short video lesson and simple exercises to help you understand the passato prossimo examples that you find in the story.

It'll take you about 15 minutes each day.

All you have to do is show up every day…

Over the course of the month, the daily immersion will help you absorb this tricky Italian tense naturally, until it just “sounds right” to you.

You’ll be able to speak Italian in the past tense more freely and fluently, because the passato prossimo and its verb conjugations you need will already be where you need them - on the tip of your tongue!

Here's What's Included...

The concept is beautifully simple!

Every day, for 30 days, you’ll get:

  • One 250-word chapter of our Italian story (jam-packed with passato prossimo examples)
  • The written story plus audio book (so you can read or listen...wherever you are!)
  • A short 5-minute video lesson with our instructor, Martina. (She’ll explain the usage of the passato prossimo in the story)
  • A short daily practice exercise (to help you remember what you’ve learned)
  • Discussion with dozens of fellow challengers in our interactive Facebook group (so you can discuss the story and get answers to questions).

We’ve carefully structured the entire 30 days, so all you have to do is turn up and get stuck in!

Frequently Asked Questions

What level is the challenge for?
Both the story and the lesson content is aimed at A2-B1 level. (That's high-beginner to low-intermediate) In other words, this is for you if you've been studying Italian for a little while (or maybe a long while!), can understand at least some Italian, but struggle to talk about the past in a comfortable and natural way.
How can I access the challenge?
Mobile, desktop, laptop, tablet... The challenge is super user-friendly and you'll be able to log on from anywhere!
What exactly will I learn? How will this challenge help me?
During this challenge, we'll focus on the Italian passato prossimo and all of its different uses, recycled over and over throughout the story. You'll see the passato prossimo used in a number of different common situations over and over in the story. This means you'll learn the various uses of this verb tense to the point where it's effortless and automatic. You'll learn to know instinctively know when to use it. You'll get daily lessons from Martina, where you'll learn specifically the passato prossimo is used in each example. This means you'll develop an intuitive and native-like understanding of when and how to use this verb tense.
What if it's too hard, or my level is too low?
To make the challenge achievable, we've kept each chapter short - only 250 words! This means that you'll be able to easily make it to the end of the chapter each day, even if it does take you a little longer. However, the daily video lessons will give you all the support you need, as you'll have clear, professional explanations for why and how the passato prossimo is used in the story. This means that, even if you're really unsure about the passato prossimo right now, just by watching and studying the daily videos, you'll learn to think about it like a native speaker by the end of the challenge. If I had my way, this is the only way students would ever learn Italian grammar!
What's so special about this "StoryLearning" method anyway?
Most Italian students try to learn the passato prossimo through rules. This doesn't work, and is extremely stressful for you as a learner. Why? Because there are lots of so-called "rules" and it's impossible to hold them all in your head at the same time while you're speaking. It's also not a natural approach ... native speakers don't learn grammar with rules, after all! With the "Perfect Passato Prossimo" challenge, you'll learn through example and context, just like native speakers do! The magic of learning through story is that your main focus is actually not on the grammar... you concentrate on understanding and enjoying the story! As you're reading and listening to the story, the passato prossimo will begin to lodge itself subconsciously in your brain. It doesn't happen right away - in fact it may take a couple of weeks for you to feel the real effects. But by the end of the 30 days, you'll have a native-like command of this verb tense that will amaze you.
I'm not sure I can commit for 30 days
Your daily commitment is only 15 minutes. This is because the principle of the challenge is little and often is the best way to learn. 15 minutes is a pretty manageable amount of time to devote to your Italian. You can fit it in comfortably: • before breakfast • during your lunch break • after dinner • ...even while waiting for the bus! The power is in the consistency - working at it for a short time every day. You'll be amazed at the huge progress you make from simply showing up every day to work on one area of your Italian! Remember, you get the audio of the story, as well as the text, so you can easily take part and keep up wherever you happen to be!
What if I am unhappy with the challenge?
I would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with the challenge, contact me at any point during the challenge and I'll issue you full and prompt refund.
How long do I have access to the course after the end of the challenge?
How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.
