30-DAY STORYLEARNING® CHALLENGE

Subjunctive Made Simple

Take our grammar-slaying, fluency-boosting April challenge and master the sneaky Italian subjunctive once and for all!

Start Date: April 1st

Level: A2 / B1 (Upper Beginner / Lower Intermediate)

If you struggle with the subjunctive mood in Italian, then I’ve got news for you…

You’re not alone.

In fact, Italian learners from New York to Napoli have a hard time getting to grips with the Italian subjunctive mood.

  • Figuring out what on earth the subjunctive is in the first place
  • Choosing when to use the subjunctive and when to use the indicative mood
  • Memorising subjunctive verb conjugations in a bunch of different tenses

And doing all of that while face-to-face with a native Italian speaker!

  • Is it "spero che tu stai bene"? ... OR "spero che tu stia bene"?
  • And what's the difference anyway?

With the subjunctive, it's easy to feel like you'll never truly get your head around it. It's just one of those things you'll have to live with, right?

Well, not so fast...

Help is at hand!

I’ve created a unique 30-day challenge, "Subjunctive Made Simple", that will help you learn and internalise the Italian subjunctive mood, so you can use it confidently and correctly in conversation with native Italian speakers.

No more boring grammar textbooks.

No more memorising rules.

And most importantly...

No more frustrating Italian subjunctive mistakes when you chat with your Italian-speaking family and friends.

Introducing the April Challenge:

"Subjunctive Made Simple"

With...

Here’s how the challenge works.

The challenge is based on an exciting original story in Italian that develops over the 30 days of the challenge.

This is a brand new story, written exclusively for this 30-Day Challenge.

We’ve created the story to be jam-packed with examples of the subjunctive mood used in all key verb tenses.

Every day, you’ll receive one new chapter of the story, along with short video lessons and simple exercises to help you understand how the subjunctive is used in the story.

It'll take you about 15 minutes each day.

All you have to do is show up every day…

Over the course of the month, the daily immersion will help you absorb the subjunctive naturally, until you "just know" instinctively whether you need to use the subjunctive or not.

The result is that you'll be able to speak Italian confidently without worrying about the subjunctive or trying to figure it out in your head before you talk.

Instead, you'll use the subjunctive freely and fluently, because...

1) You'll instinctively know when you need to use it and...

2) The subjunctive verb conjugations will already be where you need them - on the tip of your tongue!

Here's What's Included...

The concept is beautifully simple!

Every day, for 30 days, you’ll get:

  • One 250-word chapter of our Italian story (jam-packed with examples of the subjunctive in context)
  • The written story plus audio book (so you can read or listen...wherever you are!)
  • An insightful daily video lesson with our instructor, Martina. (She'll explain the useage of the subjunctive verbs in the story)
  • A short daily practice exercise (to help you remember what you’ve learned)
  • Discussion with dozens of fellow challengers in our interactive Facebook group (so you can discuss the story and get answers to questions).

We’ve carefully structured the entire 30 days, so all you have to do is turn up and get stuck in!

Frequently Asked Questions

What level is the challenge for?
Both the story and the lesson content is aimed at A2-B1 level. (That's high-beginner to low-intermediate). In other words, this is for you if you've been studying Italian for a little while (or maybe a long while!) and can understand at least some Italian, but struggle to use Italian subjunctive in a comfortable and natural way.
How can I access the challenge?
Mobile, desktop, laptop, tablet... The challenge is super user-friendly and you'll be able to log on from anywhere!
What exactly will I learn? How will this challenge help me?
During this challenge, we'll focus on Italian subjunctive. You'll see tons of examples of the most essential and useful subjunctive Italian verbs recycled over and over throughout the story. This means you'll learn how the Italian subjunctive works to the point where it' is effortless and automatic and you can use and understand it instinctively. You'll get daily lessons from Martina, where you'll learn specifically how and why certain verbs are used in each example. This means you'll develop an intuitive and native-like understanding of how to use the subjunctive yourself.
What if it's too hard, or my level is too low?
To make the challenge achievable, we've kept each chapter short - only 250 words! This means that you'll be able to easily make it to the end of the chapter each day, even if it does take you a little longer. However, the daily video lessons will give you all the support you need, as you'll have clear, professional explanations of how the subjunctive is used in the story. This means that, even if you're really unsure about Italian subjunctive right now, just by watching and studying the daily videos, you'll learn to think about it like a native speaker by the end of the challenge. If I had my way, this is the only way students would ever learn Italian!
What's so special about this "StoryLearning" method anyway?
Most Italian students try to learn subjunctive through rules and memory tricks. This doesn't work, and is extremely stressful for you as a learner. Why? Because there are hundreds of verbs to learn and it's impossible to hold them all in your head at the same time while you're speaking if you rely on memory tricks. It's also not a natural approach ... native speakers don't expand their vocabulary with rules, after all! With the "Subjunctive Made Simple" challenge, you'll learn through example and context, just like native speakers do! The magic of learning through story is that your main focus is actually not on the grammar or learning new vocabulary... you concentrate on understanding and enjoying the story! As you're reading and listening to the story, the verbs will begin to lodge themselves subconsciously in your brain. It doesn't happen right away - in fact it may take a couple of weeks for you to feel the real effects. But by the end of the 30 days, you'll have a native-like command of Italian subjunctive that will amaze you.
I'm not sure I can commit for 30 days
Your daily commitment is only 15 minutes. This is because the principle of the challenge is that "little and often is the best way to learn". 15 minutes is a pretty manageable amount of time to devote to your Italian. You can fit it in comfortably: • before breakfast • during your lunch break • after dinner • ...even while waiting for the bus! The power is in the consistency - working at it for a short time every day. You'll be amazed at the huge progress you make from simply showing up every day to work on one area of your Italian! Remember, you get the audio of the story, as well as the text, so you can easily take part and keep up wherever you happen to be!
What if I am unhappy with the challenge?
I would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with the challenge, contact me at any point during the challenge and I'll issue you full and prompt refund.
How long do I have access to the course after the end of the challenge?
How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.
